AICMA AWARDS CEREMONY on 3rd June 2024 (World Bicycle Day)Ludhiana
AICMA, the AllIndia Cycle Manufacturers’ Association, held its 3rd Awards Ceremony on June 3rd, 2024, coinciding with the 7thWorld Bicycle Day, at Hotel Park Plaza, Ludhiana. The event aimed to celebrate excellence, innovation, and dedication within the Indian bicycle sector, fostering a culture of growth and recognition.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Shri BanwarilalPurohit, along with esteemed guests Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board – PPCB, Govt. of Punjab and Shri Rajiv Wadhera Joint Commissioner Income Tax Ludhiana and Shri Sandeep Rishi, Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana. The ceremony witnessed the felicitation of eight awards across six categories, honouring outstanding individuals and entities shaping the bicycle industry landscape.
The awardees of 2024 are as follows:
1. Lifetime Services Award to Cycle Businessperson
Shri S. S. Bhogal, Managing partner, Bhogal Sales Corporation &Bhogal Sons (Regd), Ludhiana
2. Lifetime Services Award to Cycle Executive
Shri Pritpal Krishan Beri, Former President (Works), Avon Cycles Ltd.
3. Outstanding Services Award for Cycle cause (co-awards)
(i) Shri Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Executive Engineer (urban mobility), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra and
(ii) Ms Firoza Dadan, First Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai & Director of Smart Commute Foundation, Mumbai
4. S. Angad Singh Memorial Innovation Award for Cycle & Parts (co-awards)
(i) Shri Charanjit Singh Vishwakarma, CMD, Vishivkarma Industries Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana for innovation on Brake lever & Brake and
(ii) Shri Karan Agrawal, Director (Marketing & NBD), Amar Wheels Pvt Ltd, Ludhiana for innovation on a one-piece Crank with self-lubricating fittings.
5. Most Impactful Start-up of the Year in the Indian Bicycle Industry -2024
EMOTORAD Pune, Mr RajibGangopadhay, founder, and three co-founders
6. Outstanding Cycle Sportsperson of the Year
Mr Esow, S/o Shri Alban, Andaman & Nicobar, Gold medal winner of the Jr. World Championship in Germany.
This apart, 25 topper school children of 8th /10th Students of Ludhiana district were honoured with a new bicycle supported by the 8 member companies of AICMA; this will help to encourage other students to inspire and excel.
The Hon’ble Governor commended the initiative of AICMA in promoting innovation and excellence within the bicycle sector, emphasising its socio-economic significance. He urged the fraternity to rally behind the cause of cycling, recognising its immense potential. Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board – PPCB, Govt. of Punjab, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the bicycle industry in the area of environmental norms, its complianceand user-friendly interface.
President of AICMA, Shri Aditya Munjal, in his welcome remarks stressed the need for institutionalizing cycling at various levels, advocating for supportive policies and infrastructure. He highlighted the imperative role of the Central Government in addressing industry demands for sustained growth, especially PLI, mandatory standards, 5% GST, Safe infrastructure and removal of export disabilities. Shri Rishi Pahwa Vice President of AICMA gave away the vote of thanks to the Hon’ble Governor and all esteemed participants.
The awards, decided by a jury headed by ShriOnkar Singh Pahwa&comprising of distinguished members, were presented as Mementos and citations, symbolizing acknowledgement and appreciation. The organizing committee expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in making the event a success.
